5 ways to make face yoga a daily habit

Face yoga is beneficial because it improves skin tone, skin circulation, and, as a result, the complexion. Wrinkles become smoother and may even disappear completely. Like any practice involving muscles, face yoga helps relieve stress and makes you feel better. As with any new and beneficial activity in life, many people find it challenging to turn face yoga into a good habit. Here, we offer a few ways to integrate face yoga into your daily life.

  1. Make face yoga a part of your facial or self-care routine

A great way to turn face yoga into a habit is to integrate it into your daily facial or body care routine. For example, you can do face yoga before showering, after cleansing your face, before or after using a scrub or face mask, etc. You can also spread different exercises throughout the day. For instance, do some exercises in the morning after brushing your teeth, some while walking the dog, and some while preparing dinner.

  2. Do face yoga right after your workout

Whether you’re doing strength or cardio training, you can follow your main workout with face yoga exercises. When your whole body’s muscles are already warmed up, it’s a good idea to also engage your facial muscles as a finishing touch. If you feel the need to relax your facial muscles after face yoga, try a face roller. It helps to relax tense muscles and also supports lymphatic drainage and circulation. You can use a face roller on days when you don’t have time for yoga exercises. Learn how

  3. Turn face yoga into a game

If you want to keep your facial muscles toned, you can use face yoga cards to create a fun exercise routine. Place the deck of yoga cards next to the fridge, in the hallway cabinet, or another frequently visited spot, so you can pick a new card and do an exercise each time. Or make a deal with yourself that every time you go to the kitchen to fill your glass of water, you take a moment to do some stretches and face yoga exercises. If you have kids, choose a few exercises they can join in on too. Face yoga will put everyone in a good mood.

  4. Train your lips while on the move

If your lifestyle involves a lot of travel, including long bus or train rides, it’s perfectly fine to do some face yoga exercises while traveling. If there are other passengers sitting across from you, you might even give them a little bit of amusement. If you’re driving, you can do the exercises while stopped at traffic lights.

5. Find yourself an accountability partner

If you know that a friend or acquaintance is also doing face yoga exercises, you can become accountability partners for each other. For example, you can create a shared virtual chat and let each other know when the exercises are done each day. You can also come up with a "penalty" system for missed sessions, such as a consequence if someone skips their exercises for three consecutive days.

If there aren’t any face yoga enthusiasts among your acquaintances, you can find like-minded individuals in themed social media groups. Various challenges are also held in the MaiWistik Facebook group, which can help turn different healthy behaviors into habits.

If you’re just starting out with face yoga, begin with small steps. It’s enough to do 2-3 exercises per day. You don’t need to include five or seven different exercises right away. You can gradually add or swap out exercises as you go. The most important thing is to be consistent.

If face yoga is entirely new to you and you’d like to get to know it better, you can join an e-course or have a personalized training plan created for you.
